A Chenrezig with four arms. The four-armed embodiment of Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is shown in the Mandala Thangka, a traditional Tibetan Buddhist painting. Intricate works of art called thangkas are used as visual aids in spiritual and meditation practice.
Chenrezig is frequently pictured as having a serene look and wearing an Amitabha Buddha statue as part of his crown. The mandala that surrounds it is a sacred geometric design that symbolizes the enlightened cosmos. It often includes numerous Buddhist symbols and deities, complex decorations, and brilliant colors.
One of the most revered thangkas in Buddhism is the Four-Armed Chenrezig Mandala Thangka, which is used for meditation and reflection on compassion and the reduction of suffering.
