The majestic Enlightened Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha thangka artwork, a glorious representation of the Sage of the Shakyas seated on an opulent throne adorned with golden patterns. Flanked by two symmetrical blue elephants intricately covered with floral brocades, the grandeur of the throne is further enhanced by its detailed gold accents. Perched atop these grand elephants is the extraordinary Sharabha. This legendary creature possesses the head of a goat, a lion's mane, a horse's body, and lion's feet, representing the amalgamated strength, endurance, and agility of all the animals it symbolizes.
Positioned above the Sharabha are two youthful Devas, their eyes introspective as they support two Makaras with crossbeams, which in turn uphold dragons. The tranquil visages of two Nagas are ensnared by the talons of the majestic Garuda, who is in the act of consuming a snake. The graceful presence of the Nagas imposes a sense of serenity onto the powerful Garuda, emphasizing the symbolic virtues of the Six Paramitas. These remarkable beings represent the Six Paramitas (perfections) associated with an enlightened mind: Generosity (Dana), Morality (Shila), Patience (Khyanti), Effort (Birya), Concentration (Samadhi), and Wisdom (Pragya).
At the top of the artwork, Amitabha Buddha occupies a prominent position, amplifying the piece's divine ambiance. Encircling Shakyamuni Buddha are the principal disciples, Brahma and Indra, whose acts of homage and offerings highlight their contributions to supporting the Buddha’s journey. Brahma, the creator god, showcases a serene sign of respect, while Indra, the king of gods, kneels in a sacred gesture of offering.
