Kapala Set,

About Our Ritual Item :

This kapala is a wonderfully carved gold-plated set carved with a skull head, flowers, and vajra handle secured with platted gold. This fine-quality Kapala set is handcrafted finely to give it a vintage look.

Introduction To The Kapala Set :

The skull cup, known as Kapala in Sanskrit, is fashioned from the oval upper section of a human cranium. It serves as a libation vessel for a vast number of Vajrayana deities, mostly wrathful. As a ritual implement, the selection of the right skull is of immense importance for the success of the ritual. In Tibetan Buddhism, the Kapala or Skull Bowl is used ritually in a number of ways. For example, the Lama may use it as an offering bowl on the altar, filled with wine or blood as a gift to the Yidam Deity or all the Deities in the Mandala. Through the force of the practice of tantric visualizations based in deep philosophical study and meditation, a sort of transubstantiation will occur, and the wine or blood will be transformed into the Wisdom Nectar, a liquid form of the Enlightened Mind of the Deity or all of the Deities in the Celestial Palace of the Mandala.

I visited the premises in Boudha in person. Its not just next to the stupa like many shops but a little way away and easy to find with Googlemaps - just ask locals when you get there as they didn't have an obvious sign, at least when I visited. They have modern studios, workshops and a salesroom all in the same buildng. Bipin was very helpful and I examined several bhavacakra thankas before settling for a beautifully detailed one. The brocade was added in a day or two and the final thanka was delivered to my hotel very carefully and robustly packaged. I was very happy with the thankas I bought and very happy with the service, Definitely recommended!

The thangka looks even more beautiful in person. The thangka arrived earlier than I expected and it was packaged very well. The seller answered all my questions promptly and kept me up to date with shipping details ect. I highly recommend buying from this seller and I look forward to purchasing paintings from them in the future. Thank you RitualThanka!

Great communication. Item as described and tracking info sent was prompt. I should have also ordered the frame from them. Maybe the next order. ***Update - got a frame from another seller but wanted to show that the Mantra Mandala is as stated.
