Description

Palden Lhamo is one of the main Dharma Protectors in Tibetan Buddhism. Also known as Shri Devi in Sanskrit, she is a direct emanation of the Goddess Saraswati manifesting in a wrathful form.

She is riding a horse, an animal that can carry one across water, symbolizing Palden Lhamo's ability to cross the ocean of cyclic existence. She has dark blue skin, a sign of her might in subjugating demons. Her three rounds, red eyes seek out the enemies of the dharma. She has long golden hair, sharp teeth to gnash vice, and has ash marks on her body from the time she spends in cemeteries. The aureole surrounding Palden Lhamo is fire – like, flames that consume passions and desires. Palden Lhamo has many symbolic items surrounding her person.

I visited the premises in Boudha in person. Its not just next to the stupa like many shops but a little way away and easy to find with Googlemaps - just ask locals when you get there as they didn't have an obvious sign, at least when I visited. They have modern studios, workshops and a salesroom all in the same buildng. Bipin was very helpful and I examined several bhavacakra thankas before settling for a beautifully detailed one. The brocade was added in a day or two and the final thanka was delivered to my hotel very carefully and robustly packaged. I was very happy with the thankas I bought and very happy with the service, Definitely recommended!

A wonderful rendering of this form of Mahakala and exactly as depicted in photos. Brocade selection really complements the thangka. Super-friendly staff at RitualThangka, and all necessary details of transaction are relayed in a timely and helpful manner. Shipping was prompt with good tracking, and the packing of the thangka for safe-shipping was phenomenal (and greatly appreciated). Thanks so much.

I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The item arrived very fast and customer service was beyond excellent. The thangka is beautiful!
