The mandala is divided into concentric layers, each of which contains profound symbolism. Makara, legendary guards, guard the directional gates, which form a sacred barrier around Avalokiteshvara. The Outer Circle, often known as the "Cosmic Dimensions," portrays the interconnected universe.
