Mini Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha-the enlightened one
This miniature statue of Buddha Shakyamuni is hand-carved seated in a meditation posture. His right hand is sculpted showing the gesture called "bhumisparsha" which denotes the mudra of touching the earth. This mudra symbolizes the Buddha's enlightenment under the bodhi tree, when he summoned the earth goddess, Sthavara, to bear witness to his attainment of enlightenment. And, he is seen holding an alms bowl in his left hand.
